A Day at the Museums

With a couple of days off school we took advantage to avoid the crowds and went to two museums in one day.  First we went to the Hong Kong Museum of Art to see the new exhibition. A solo exhibition of Taiwanese artist, Ju Ming.  His sculptures in various media are fantastic. There were several outside allowing people to pose with them which is fun. Inside, usually, photography was allowed. I plan to take my grade 8 students, so it was a bit of a ‘check it out to see if it’s suitable for kids’ visit. I will definitely be bringing the students are there are ample opportunities for photography, sketching and spin-off projects – more on those when they happen.

After the art museum we had lunch, then went on to the Science Museum to see the special dinosaur exhibition.  Tali has actually been twice already, but was keen to go again. It is an excellent exhibition – informative, interactive for kids, well put together and fascinating.

Tali now knows quite a lot of dinosaur names. We might visit again, but as the exhibition will close soon, I don’t know. Maybe we’ll go to the History museum next. Tali likes them and since we have museum passes, it’s affordable.

More details on Ju Ming’s sculptures when I go back to the Art museum with the students.
