When: July 2011, 3 days
Where: Oslo
Who: with my great friend Ben Cooper
How: We flew with Ryanair from London Gatwick. Bit grim really.
Weather: dry, warm days, cool evenings and nights.
Food: We ate pretty well, only limited by how expensive everything was. Good European fare.
Sights: Fabulous museums include: Edvard Munch, the Fram arctic ship, The Kon-tiki, the story of the voyages made by Thor Heyerdahl and the rafts he made them on(truly fascinating), The Nobel Peace Prize centre (humbling in the extreme and very educational). We also went to the top of the Olympic ski jump, an ice bar for a drink.
Surprises: We had been warned, but the prices were still a shock.
Tips: It’s all very walkable. Bring LOADS of cash. Get a museum/transport pass (worth it)
