I have not even spent a night in Jordan, but I have managed to see it’s most famous site – Petra. I went there on a day trip from Egypt and though it was a full day of travel I got a taste of Jordan and I’m keen to go back for more. It seemed a nice place, with friendly people and, of course, much to explore within and beyond the site of Petra.
When: February 2010
Where: Petra
Who: with A.
How: on an organised day tour from Dahab in Egypt
Weather: warm, dry, sunny
Food: we had a meal in a restaurant – tourist food, so I can’t really comment on Jordanian food
Sights: the rock cut tombs of Petra – outstanding! Beautiful and interesting. The walk through along the canyon to get there is good in itself (as long as you don’t get run over by a camel)
Surprises:
Tips: If history and archaeology are your thing you’ll want more than a couple of hours at Petra
