When we think of Hong Kong we first think of gleaming skyscrapers surrounded by streets teaming with people.  Where do all these people come from?  Well, some of them came from within Hong Kong itself.  Villages in the New Territories have emptied as people head to the urban areas for work and more convenient living.  We went to one such abandoned village in January.  Despite a rather steep hike up a paved road (not made easier by having a toddler on your shoulders)

, it’s worth it to catch a glimpse of what village life must once have been like.
